Altan is an Irish band whose music is deeply rooted in the traditional sounds of County Donegal. The band was founded by Frankie Kennedy and Mairéad Ní Mhaonaigh, who brought their unique musical heritage to a global audience. Over their career, Altan has collaborated with notable artists like Dolly Parton and has performed for both US and Irish Presidents during their extensive tours.

Beyond their performances, Altan has also contributed to Irish culture by releasing a tune book that compiles 222 melodies collected over three decades. Their significant impact was further recognized in 2006 when they were honored with a postal stamp.
