The Green Lake Fine Art Show will celebrate its 50th year in 2023 with a new and larger venue in downtown Green Lake. The annual event, revered as one of the Midwest's most esteemed art shows, will take place on the Town Square Community Center campus on August 12 and 13.
For over 30 years, the event was spearheaded by Guy Rossberg, a local artist and owner of Wisconsin Gold & Gem. His children, Ali and Mike Rossberg, grabbed the reins when he passed away in 2015. Emily McCarthy joined Ali in running the show in recent years, but they are now turning over their paint brushes to Town Square Community Center.
Local artist Jennifer Aither and Town Square co-founder Fran Hill are co-chairing the event. “We love the Green Lake Fine Art Show, and when Ali and Emily approached us, we thought it was a great fit,” said Aither. “Town Square has been home to many artists over the years and we are excited to bring the show up the hill to a larger space.”
The juried show will feature fine artists from around the country as well as live music and refreshments. Visitors can enjoy a vast selection of art including oil paintings, sculptures, watercolors, ceramics, photography, wood, glass, and fine jewelry.
“This is the fine art show’s 50th year and we will honor artists who have been part of it before and will also welcome new talent,” said Hill. “We’re excited to celebrate the milestone and continue the tradition for years to come.”
The new event committee will begin accepting artist applications in early 2023. To stay up to date, sign up for the Town Square newsletter at GreenLakeTownSquare.org.
