Fat Bear Week

Get excited - Fat Bear Week is coming! If you’ve never heard of Fat Bear Week, the Caestecker Public Library is thrilled to help you make its acquaintance. “Fat Bear Week is an election that celebrates the success, adaptability, and resiliency of Katmai’s bears. Fat bears exemplify the richness of Katmai National Park and Bristol Bay, Alaska - a wild region that is home to more brown bears than people and the largest, healthiest runs of sockeye salmon left on the planet.” - Katmai Conservancy.

Sadly, we have neither live bears nor salmon in the library (not for lack of trying. Silly zoning regulations and staff animal dander allergies) but we will have pictures of all the bears posted, as well as a way for you to vote. We hope you’ll stop by to get to know the contestants, vote, and celebrate when the winner is crowned on September 29!
