A marvelous mix of professional chamber musicians explores duos, trios, and quintet repertoire in this GLFM Chamber Music Institute faculty concert, celebrating both tradition and today’s creative voices as part of the America 250 observance. The program highlights the vitality of contemporary American composition with Kenji Bunch’s Three American Folk Hymns and Melia Watras’ dynamic Kreutzer, spotlighting the evolving sound of American classical music. Rebecca Clarke’s expressive Two Pieces for Viola and Cello offers a graceful nod to America’s English roots, while Mozart’s dramatic String Quintet in G minor brings Classical brilliance to close the evening.
Performed by GLFM faculty artists — Salley Koo and Lee Taylor, violins; Jesse Holstein, viola; Elizabeth Oakes, viola; and Gregory Sauer, cello — this concert reflects the Institute’s commitment to learning through instruction, collaboration, and example while honoring the diverse influences that shape American musical identity. Approximate program length: 65 minutes.
